Great for cloning HDD to SSD on HP laptop

After reading reviews from Revain I bought this cable to clone my HP dv6 3033 which I bought from Costco in 2011. In addition to a standard USB port, it has a non-powered SATA/USB port. This cable worked great with the new Samsung V-NAND 860 EVO 500GB SSD. The instructions for cloning to a Samsung SSD provided by R. Cummings on 09/17/2018 were very helpful. Just note that Windows 10 now calls "Windows Explorer" "File Explorer". The procedure is slightly different, but I was able to format the…

USB power required even for 2.5 " drive

Have successfully used this to power some 2.5" Seagate SATAII "Momentus" drives through the eSATAp port on mine HP EliteBook 8470p powered. The only annoyance I've had so far is that it doesn't seem to actually use the eSATAp 5V pins, instead requiring you to add a USB connector. (In my case, this was annoying as the only USB port available for the eSATAp connection was the always-on "charging" port, so the drive would stay on and make spin-up noises from time to time , even when the OS was in…

    Incredible performance

This cable helped me salvage an old laptop with a broken internal hard drive controller. This cable allowed me to run the OS from an external SSD as it was an Esata cable and I was able to get incredible boot speeds on this old Core 2 Duo laptop. The build quality of the cable is solid and can withstand flexing when opening and closing the laptop lid. All in all, this is an incredible deal and a must-have if you have a machine with an Esata port.

This cable is perfect for HD to SSD transfer via eSATA port!

Works great! I needed to migrate the contents of my 7 year old Sony VPCF112 500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive to a new Samsung EVO 850 2.5" Solid State Drive (SSD) purchased from Revain with a SATA connector. An eSATA Connector I haven't used in 7 years.Calculation of eSATA should be up to 180MB/s vs theoretical 60MB/s for USB 2.0 or (from experience) more like 25MB/s for sustained transfer Hard drive is rated for 60MB/s read speeds I bought a 1m Revain Basics USB 2.0 extension cable to extend the USB…

    Read the description carefully

Works very well with 2.5" SSD. Used to increase space on a Comcast DVR with an eSATA port (non-powered) and a USB port (powered). I didn't read the description carefully. I was hoping to use it with the 3.5" drive I bought from Revain in the same order. The USB port did not provide enough power. My fault however. This cable works exactly as described. Tested with regular 2.5 inch laptop drive and it works fine. The USB port provides enough power.

nice to have on hand! Always used.

A friend and colleague recommended that we can clone hard drives on the fly in case we need it and don't have a physical disk cloner handy. Since then, I've used this ingenious device to quickly transfer data from another internal hard drive (laptop drive), clone hard drives, and even install operating systems for other people using my laptop. The only doubt I have is that due to Dell's brilliant idea of having an Esata port on the back of a laptop and not having a USB port for power next to…

    • Makes me angry

This is an elegant solution when you need to do something very specific: a space connect SATA drive to the eSATA port, which is not powered but has a convenient USB port that you can use to draw power. Obviously this is only a temporary fix for bare magnetic hard drives, but bare SSDs often have an enclosure that allows them to work the same way outdoors without the hassle and added expense of putting them in an external enclosure. Why use eSATA instead (and occupy a USB port) with just an…

Just the cable I needed to add storage to my Verizon DVR!

I bought this cable with Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5" SATA III Internal SSD Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5" SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM) and it connected to my Verizon DVR. The power from the USB was enough to run the SSD, so I didn't have to buy a separate drive enclosure with a power supply. I just left the drive behind the DVR open and it works great (no heat issues). To add a drive, do the following: 1. Access the DVR.2 menu. Select Turn on more storage.3. Then select "Enable external…

If you need it, you needed it yesterday

It does exactly what it promises - no power eSATA connector and USB -Power connection. why do you need it 1. Native eSATA interface with eSATA speed faster than USB-32. You need a SATA interface so you can turn off the power yourself. Why is this needed? Because. If you have a Samsung SSD and need a secure erase, you will see the message "Frozen SSD". Samsung wants you to leave the drive plugged in (data channels) and power it off and then plug it back in, which clears the "hard drive frozen"…

    Pros
    • Connect USB + eSATA to your PC at the same time, it can reach eSATA power speed

    • External Shielded SATA 6Gb/s Cable provides high performance external serial (eSATA) connection from your computer or DVR to external storage devices with eSATA ports.
