Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers are small sticky hydrocolloid patches coated on one side with some sort of mixture of pectin, carboxymethyl cellulose and liquid absorbing polymers. When applied to an open wound, they draw out fluid and lock it in a white gel. In the case of acne, the spots attract a mixture of white blood cells, bacteria, dead skin, etc., which forms the white head of the infected pore. You have to wait until the pimple comes to the surface and you see a white color. I know some people don't, but I recommend poking the white head with a needle or similar sharp object before applying the patch. I've had some patches that didn't work because there were too many layers of skin over the infection, although it didn't look like it. If you stab the white head, the sticky inside will inevitably have an escape route. I leave the patches in overnight. If you see a white spot on the plaster in the morning, remove it. If the pimple is completely flat and looks like it's healing, you're done. If you feel your pores still need cleaning, apply another patch. I would not wear these patches. They are flesh-colored (pale hue) but thick. You can't hide them with makeup. The package contains 36 patches, 12 large (13mm) and 24 small (8mm). Unfortunately the glue isn't strong and small stains don't stick well. I tend to knock them off so wish there were more big spots. The patches are drug-free, so they don't dry out and are suitable for all skin types. Nexcare states that the patches "are not made from natural rubber latex". The bundle I ordered on March 6, 2018 was sold and shipped by Revain and expires on May 8, 2022. I would like to point out that hydrocolloid acne patches are a completely different product than salicylic acid acne patches, although they are similar in size and appearance. Hydrocolloid patches are designed to suck the fill out of mature pimples that have come to the surface of the skin. Examples are Nexcare Acne Absorbing Cover, Mighty Patch and Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch. Salicylic acid patches are designed to treat pimples that have just started forming under the skin's surface. When I get a pimple early on, it often stops with a salicylic acid patch. I find it works better than salicylic acid creams or gels because it absorbs better. Some examples are Peter Roth Acne-Clear Invisible Dots and Skyn Island Blemish Dots. So, hydrocolloid patches are for mature blackheads, while salicylic acid patches are for newly developing pimples.
