When I first went bird hunting with them, the phrase "change the rules of the game” kept popping up in my head. I am amazed that I was able to purchase such great binoculars for less than $200. The clarity is fantastic. The field of view is excellent. It was difficult to follow the birds in flight with my old binoculars. With Trailseeker 8x42 I can do this without any problems. I like it very much when I can examine the birds closely. I was thinking about getting a 10x42 (my old binoculars were 10x). I decided to trust internet sources that said 8x is better for birding and I have no regrets. I haven't found much of a difference between 8x and 10x. Perhaps the quality and clarity of the Trailseekers makes up for that, but I feel like I can see more detail of the birds I'm looking at. It also makes it much easier to track songbirds jumping from branch to branch. I also wanted to note the brightness. I was skeptical of how much lens coating would make a difference. I went out on a cloudy day and was pleasantly surprised when I looked into the lenses. Trailseekers appear to let in more light, so the image you're looking at is actually brighter than what your eyes see. I ended up feeling like I was using binoculars that I should have paid over $400 for. It's awesome.
