USE ANTI-SLIP PAD

I was happy to use RoofPax roof hooks with a roof luggage bag I also bought from Revain before our spring round trip from DC to Orlando (2000 miles in 4 days). interruption. Attaching the hooks was an easy task, and attaching the cargo bag to the hooks required a bit more effort. I had no trouble removing the seal from the minivan and installing the hooks. This worked as expected. What was not expected, however, was the fact that although I attached the bag as tightly as I could, by the end of the first day of travel (600 miles) I found that the hook straps were mostly worn through the clear cover. and left black traces of the belt on the paintwork of our minibus (as shown in the photo). I need to polish that and then use some clear coat to touch it up. Most of the chafing occurred over the front doors, not the rear sliding doors. My guess is that the aerodynamics (or lack thereof) of the roof pannier caused wind turbulence, vibration and noise when I hit freeway speeds (>65 mph). I also had the opportunity to travel in another car and they were able to make sure they didn't see anything obvious rocking or vibrating in the wind. SOLUTION: On the way back I cut out some pieces of kitchen antiseptic. - Padding mat to be placed between the vehicle and the black seat belts. I think it helped. Hard to tell since the marks were already there, but I don't think they've gotten any worse. Other methods of reducing vibration/wind noise may include driving a little slower, packing the roof bag a little more aerodynamically, using a wind deflector, or towing behind other larger moving vehicles. Overall: I'm happy because I'm saving hundreds of dollars installing a roof rack system on my Honda Odyssey that will probably only be used once a year. This would have earned all 5 stars if these hooks had a warning label or even padding as a safety precaution.
