I bought this to remove the color that was turning my hair red. I wanted ash brown, not red, and I figured that would help. After squeezing something into the container, I was hit with a horrible chemical smell. . I thought it might be too strong for my hair and decided to take a different approach. Sounds weird but it helped me. Buy blue and black hair dye. I used Nutrisse Indigo.2. Use blue-black paint on red areas.3. Wash it off ONLY after about 60 seconds. You don't want to dye or darken your hair; You want it to SHINE blue. Sixty seconds; a minute. Don't leave it too long.4. Blue counteracts red. Now the red color is gone from my hair - now it's the ash gray color I wanted. Such a simple solution with minimal damage to your hair. From now on, I will keep a box of blue-black hair dye for toner.
