Review on Mob Armor Rad Mount Microphone by Eddie Curd

Need a spacer between thick and thin

Although most photos show the UV5R radio installed on it, there are other radios. So the fit is not as individual as I expected. They include pads to eliminate this sagging. The thin padding allows some slack, and the thick packaging lifts the radio up a bit. It's not bad, but I don't think it's much better than some of the existing custom mounts. You can use it as a quick take-off mount if you want to watch a bit, but you'd better not cut the radio off as it's not the best way to hold the radio in your hand. I think if you have a lot of steel surfaces you can install it anywhere. I wanted to use this in the cockpit and most of that surface is plastic. And there's no good flat spot on the disc for the stick. I will make a custom claw mount for this. Another downside is that there is no way to mount a mic with a speaker on top, unlike a solid ribbed radio and mic mount. The plus is that it fits an extended Baofeng battery. Overall it will probably work great for some people, but I need to make some modifications to it to get it ready for my off-road use out of the box.

Pros
  • USE IT ANYWHERE: The magnet will stick to any surface made of iron, steel, nickel or some other metals, so you can attach it to various metal structures and objects - anywhere the magnet has a stick is! Also includes a steel disc for use on non-metallic dashboards and other surfaces.
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
