I love this window fan and it is exactly what I was looking for. I have air conditioning so I don't use it to cool a room so there's not much I can do to help if that's what you're looking for. I need this fan because I have to open the window in the room otherwise I get claustrophobic. So with the window open I need air exchange, but quiet enough that I can hear outside. current window "unit". There are no wings, and when you change direction, a rod in the center spins like a contraption, changing the airflow. And as for privacy, with a traditional louvered window vent, people outside can peek inside at night. Since this fan has no blades, nothing can be seen from the outside, it is completely darkened and almost looks like part of a house from the street, almost imperceptible. As for the fan noise, the low speed is very quiet and I could still hear the frogs and crickets outside. This is *super* important to me because if I can't turn on the fan and hear nature outside, I'll send it back. I need to hear the sounds of nature outside and this device fully meets those needs. The included foam blocks are made from flexible foam that you can mold into the shape you want to keep outside air where it belongs. When it first started raining I was at home and decided to leave the fan on to see what would happen. . Of course, every storm is different, but it worked beautifully for this particular storm. Since the device has no louvers, it is equipped with a "roof" over the air stick, which is located inside, and the rain just rolled off. So I kind of felt good that if I was away from home and it was raining, nothing too terrible would have happened. In fact, I would never feel completely safe with ANY electronic device left out in the rain. The whole block seems solid and built to last, and I hope it is. The only thing they could add to make it better is a smart app that works with Google, Alexa, Siri, etc. developers. Please do it!
