Review on ๐Ÿ๏ธ First MFG Co - Best Rated - Men's Motorcycle Leather Jacket , Menโ€™s Leather Jacket for Riding by Dick Grayson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Powerful, comfortable, with some armor attachment features

I ordered this for fear of a low side fall (beginner's mistake) with my Olympia Hudson mesh jacket. While this jacket is fine, my paranoia about road rash protection has skyrocketed. It seemed like the best balance of entry cost and ventilation options I could find, so I went with it. First impression: heavy. That's a good thing, of course, because this skin is designed to save your own. There is no razor-thin skin here. The brown version (apparently discontinued) was a greyish tint than the full brown, but a liberal treatment with Skidmore's Leather Cream gave it the lovely deep dark color I wanted. D30 CE Level 2 elbow pads, be it Icon or Klim, fit easily in the elbows. I put on the Klim D3O LP2 Pro knee and elbow pads and was able to close the velcro with no problems and they fitted correctly on my elbows. I was concerned that the level 2 would be too thick for the tight fit of this jacket but it turned out ok. The Icon D3O Viper 2 back protector is too big for my pocket and I have to exchange it for the women's version (14"x10"). The shoulder pads of the Klim D3O LP2 Pro fit into the shoulder bags, but as you can see in the photo they have to be turned upside down and the pointed end sticks out and interferes with the closing of the velcro on the bag. This shouldn't be a problem as they seem pretty safe in it given the shape of the bag. (EDIT 10/04/2019: First Manufacturing now sells the CE-2 general purpose armor on their own website which is basically identical to what comes with the newer Olympic jackets and is much more comfortable than the more breathable ones but stiffer and thicker D3O LP2 Pro. Armor.) The zippers are a bit tight at first, but can get lighter over time (and the leather conditioner shimmers). The fit on Medium is a little tight around my 5ft 9in and 200lb frame thanks to my love of beer and food, but it's not uncomfortable at all. I do notice thick armor, but it feels secure in the right places, and on larger ones, it might not stay in place either (EDIT: Again, general purpose armor is much more comfortable) since this jacket doesn't have a belt attachment, in case one does It should be tighter to avoid slipping. To my surprise, with the liner removed and vents open, it feels less warm than my Olympia Hudson mesh jacket (so far). I haven't been able to do any comparison runs yet, but it's definitely more comfortable. I'll report back when I've been able to try both variants on a hot day. EDIT 10/04/2019: Once the temperature hits 71 degrees Fahrenheit, this jacket will keep you warm. Underneath she is GREAT. Extremely comfortable and feels completely safe. I ended up buying a First Manufacturing Turbine fully perforated leather jacket for hotter weather as I just can't find Olympus mesh/fabric. How convenient. I haven't tried the similar Olympia skin. I also ended up using Skidmore's Weatherproofing on this jacket which deepened the color even more. It's great and comfortable and I can't wait to ride it further now that the temperatures are better for it.
