I bought this hat for my 11 month old son. He was born with a port wine birthmark on his face that we whitened with laser therapy. We must be very careful not to expose his treated mole to the sun to avoid skin discoloration. This hat did a great job of protecting us from the sun. The brims are wide enough to keep the sun off his whole face, but hard enough not to hit his eyes. The material is cool and doesn't scratch. I love that I can easily adjust the tightness of the hat and chin strap with small sliders for a perfect fit. I specifically chose this cap for this function because I didn't want to tie cords or deal with Velcro that would rip if my little fella tried to rip the cap off. My son has an average head size for an 11 month old but I bought a size up as the hat size is adjustable. I didn't want it to grow from a smaller size in just a few months. It fits exactly as I had hoped. Definitely recommend.
