The piercing gun works easily. The first pair of earrings (that came with the kit) I tried, the earring fell out of the gun before I could get it on my ear. I finally put that set aside and tried another set (note I'm using the correct size earring adapter) and this one held in place. I used it to pierce cartilage. It worked well and didn't hurt very much. Until the next day. There was enough space on the stand for piercings, but the back of all these earrings are very sharp at the edges. They made the back of the piercing very painful. I ended up taking the back off and making padding out of a plaster to keep the back off my ear. It has gotten much better since then and I can still clean the apartment as advertised. I also pierced the second lobes in both ears with smaller earrings. They're both fine (except for the sharp edges on the back). My only downside with this set is the backs of the earrings that are included. You really need to find a way to make them less sharp around the edges.
