An airy mousse, mostly water, comes out of the container. Very little scent. No baking soda grit was to be expected and the mousse fell off my toothbrush onto the bristles almost immediately. No foaming or indications of a cleaning effect of the product. Whatever happened was the result of the mechanical action of the toothbrush, not this product. It's conveniently presented in a portable pump tube, but it's definitely not a paste, gel, or anything like toothpaste that I've ever used. However, the pump's plastic cap doesn't fit well in the reservoir, making it easy to slip in a purse or pocket. There is an excessive amount of packaging for a small amount of product, including shrink wrapping around each outer piece. a box that was very difficult to open. I had to use a knife to cut through the plastic. At $13 for two very small containers, mostly water, I have found this product not to be effective in any of the functions listed (toothpaste, whitening, or breath freshener). I do not recommend.
