I wanted to switch to paper bags for garden waste - weeds, tree clippings and the like. They fit very well in a large bin, but can also stand on their own. They are very strong and last longer than you think. My first job was pruning a rose bush and the bag quickly filled to the brim, but I took a shovel with a square brush at the bottom and a long handle and put the trimmed branches into the bag. They have shrunk to about a quarter of the pouch depth without tearing or pricking. I have the feeling that these bags hold a lot more than comparable plastic bags. They are a bit more expensive than plastic bags but I guess that's the price of conscience!
