I bought this lens to have a fast lens for shallow depth of field shooting and indoor concert shots in low light. It does that pretty well, although it's not the sharpest lens in my bag. I usually prefer to shoot with my 3 amigos (Pancake Limited 21, 40 and 70mm lenses which I always take with me when I shoot). This usually stays in my pocket until I need the hood, it takes good photos but you should definitely always use a good lens hood as the front element has good exposure to stray light if you want good contrast. Two things about this lens (at least in my copy) disappoint me. First, mine seems to be moving backwards a bit and I had to go to a fairly high setting in my K-30's lens setup menu (it's the only lens I've had to do this with and my Kx doesn't seem to have one Problem). Second, he loves purple fringes, much more so than my limited primes and even my kit zooms. One reason is likely that this lens doesn't interact well with the camera, which is why the camera's options for automatic chromatic aberration and distortion correction are greyed out in the menu, which would probably fix most of it. This is only a problem below a/b f2, but whenever I use this lens I almost always shoot at f2 or below, since this is its purpose! I have no regrets buying this lens, it costs less than my best primes and it does the job I need it for and you can fix the purple fringes in the post. Otherwise, images are good, especially in low light (color fringes are only noticeable in bright streetlights and high-contrast conditions). It is great for indoor concerts and even sports. It also has an aperture ring set to "A" so it works great with my old Pentax ME-Super too! especially in low light (the color fringes are only noticeable in bright streetlights and high-contrast conditions).
