- Update - 3 threads out of 16 we've bought now are about a week after install died. We're going to return them now. Our initial review is still below for more details. We bought these lanterns to decorate some outdoor evergreen trees. Our main goal was to have monochromatic options without having to resort to anything in the long run. Pros: * Most color options look great. * Good range of solid color options. Cons: * Impossible to connect lights together, so they just don't work around the house. However, the power cable to the lamps is quite long. If you use more than one filament in the same place, you will need multiple sockets. * White light options look yellow * Remote control range is terrible * Several color options on the remote don't quite match the resulting color on the bulbs.
