This set is a beast! - a great way to speed up your video conferencing setup

NOTE. I received this item for free through Vine. In the age of COVID, I do a lot of video conferencing. Over the past year I've gradually built up such a collection of equipment that my office has become a home video studio. I used to use a much smaller USB powered LED backlight as part of my setup, but with the green screen I needed a much brighter light source to adequately illuminate the green screen behind me. I have bought several Neewer products over the years and when I saw this light was in stock I jumped straight at it. This is an absolute beast! BUILD QUALITY: This kit consists of both a LED bar and a telescoping C-clamp mount for your desk. The LED panel is solid: the diffusion of the panel is even and the panel itself seems pretty solid. The body of the panel is plastic: plastic can't necessarily be bought for money, but it's enough for my purposes. The LCD panel on the back is a nice touch, although not overly useful for my setup. The mount is mostly aluminum with some plastic components, namely a ball mount at the top of the mount as well as nuts that need to be loosened. and tighten the ball mount and C-clamp. While not the most comfortable mount I've used, it's strong enough to keep the LED panel stable and attaches well to the edge of my desk with no tendency to tilt or sag over time the mounting height. The kit also includes a hot shoe for the camera. The shoe itself is metal, the rest of the mount is plastic. It feels solidly built, although I imagine anyone using a $90 LED light to attach a camera will have a much more comfortable shoe mount. I personally wouldn't trust this mount, but I have no plans to use it. You can attach a shoe mount to a ball mount, but I don't see any benefit in using it that way as the ball mount works just fine. The included USB-A to USB-C cable is fairly cheap, but it stays plugged into the panel and works right out of the box. All in all everything is well made - certainly not the highest quality but nothing that looks like poor quality or that it will fall apart in a few days. 4.5/5 FUNCTIONALITY/EASE OF USE: Everything was easy to install - it took me about 2 minutes to assemble and set everything up. The ball mount isn't the most secure, but the LED bar stays in place once the nut is tightened. Note: Screw the LED panel to the bracket first, then the rubber "platform". I didn't do it the first time which resulted in a very loose fit which eventually caused the LED panel to fall off (total user error). The telescoping mount is reasonably secure and despite the weight of the LED bar, it stands upright without falling and attaches very well to my 1.5-inch-thick desk. The LED panel itself is superb. Light from the wall - or ideally the ceiling - makes for an excellent diffuse light source. The LCD panel on the back is nice and clear and displays battery life, maximum brightness percentage and color temperature. As I mentioned above, this won't be very helpful for me as I don't plan on making regular adjustments, but if you plan on installing it on the camera, this feature might come in handy. feels good, although there's not much tactile feedback when turning. The LCD displays can help mitigate this if you're trying to be relatively precise with your settings. At 100% brightness, I have no problem lighting my fairly large office space (roughly 10 feet by 15 feet). Two of these lights can easily light up an entire room. If you want an even more diffused light source, put on a large diffuser and you'll be fine - this light will easily illuminate a fairly large diffuser (think diffusers you see in a photo studio). The standard 0.25 inch thread on the bottom of the panel also allows you to use a tripod if you plan to use it more for photography. I am very happy with the performance of this kit - the brightness of the light is really impressive. and everything works as I expected. 5/5 CONCLUSION: If you're looking to upgrade your office lighting for video conferencing, streaming, or anything else on your PC, seriously consider this kit! Although I got it for free and the $90 price tag might be a bit high, this thing is a beast and I don't think the price is unreasonable for what you get. I am very happy with it - highly recommended!
