Review on 🚴 West Biking Bike Carrier Rack - 310 lb Capacity, Solid Bearings, Adjustable Universal Bicycle Luggage Cargo Rack, Cycling Equipment Stand Footstock by Alberto Brewster

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Does the job, sits a little high on the bike.

Not bad for a $40 bike rack - Easy to assemble, seat tube is installed so it fits most bikes. Signs of flex, but I wouldn't trust the "310lb" rating - the rack itself definitely doesn't look like it's rated at 310lb. Installation: Easy enough - the racks attach with clips so they fit most bikes. It takes around 301 hours depending on whether you have better tools or more experience. Pros: Not bad for the price - Β£110, one is pure rubbish (carries somewhere closer to Β£30 than Β£110, doesn't have spacers - at least that makes it quicker to install), but Β£110 is only $10 cheaper. Cons: Seat tube installed - It doesn't look like a scam, but installing a brace above your wheel (towards the rider) raises your center of gravity and the incline gets noticeably worse. This is especially bad if you're using a basket full of things (I use a $60 wheeled basket that holds 25 pounds of batteries in each pocket). You are more likely to fall on your side. The C-pillar is poorly designed - it should have a bar. welded to both posts. When using a heavy duty suitcase, the rails will slowly flex inward and your suitcase will eventually contact the rear wheel. If you have a 3D printer you can print a frame connecting these two posts to avoid this problem. $10 by the way) or your bike is not compatible with the seat post, that's a good option. However, if you intend to use heavy panniers with this rack, you will need to make some adjustments to keep your panniers off the rear wheel.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • A few niggles
