I recently upgraded from MB Air to MB Pro and needed to upgrade my home dock infrastructure to USB-C. This is a good choice. . Excellent speed on all ports (although I don't use analog VGA, can't comment on that.), good mix of ports (including audio which I almost didn't buy due to sound quality concerns but it's actually ok suitable for everyday use. Probably not at studio level.) It's portable enough to travel around, but I built it into my desktop infrastructure. My only observation is that I need a USB extender as the cable is kind of a dead end unless you want the box next to your device. So put an extra $10 on an extension cord if you use it on your desk and want to hide it.
