Update 06/06/2017 I recently did a road trip from Oklahoma City to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I used my Garmin Nuvii 2597 between two city tours, with the HD power cord receiver and this antenna extender on the dash. According to Garmin coverage map. The handheld should have lost signal between the two cities, but with this antenna extension there was no loss of coverage. I haven't tried unplugging the extension cord from the powerline antenna to see if that makes a difference. Because I got into the coverage area of the dashboard with this extender using a wearable device, I've upgraded my rating from 4 to 5 stars. End of update I've always used my HD Traffic Receiver with this antenna so I don't know how it compares to no antenna. I have a Charger City dash mount for my Nuvii 2597, which essentially gets me closer to a head-up display. I don't use suction cups. I route the power cord behind the dash mount, which allows the receiver to be placed under the windshield so it has an unobstructed view of the sky, and just drop the antenna onto the dash. I have a dash cover so if I'm ambitious I can put a layer of aluminum foil between the dash and its cover to ground the antenna and maybe improve its reception.
