When I bought this adapter, I didn't realize from the list that my expensive Alpha camera cannot meter or expose with this adapter because the FD lens will always be wide open. That's right, you can't change the aperture with the aperture ring either before or during the exposure. Lenses FD and FDn (new FD) are like that. If you don't believe me, try changing the aperture of your Canon lens when it's not attached to the camera body. There's a company called Metabones that sells a $99 adapter that claims to effectively convert an FD or FDn lens into a lens that actually works with Sony E-mount cameras. The aperture can be changed and the camera automatically recognizes which aperture value is set to . You can set the aperture manually and then use it in manual mode, aperture priority mode, shutter priority mode, everything works. I've just ordered one and will change this review if I'm disappointed. I'm very happy with the build quality of the Fotasy and how easily it adapts to Sony's Alpha camera and Canon FD lenses.
