Quality control can be your problem.

I bought three of these lenses to use with old Canon FD lenses. When attaching to the lens, care must be taken to ensure that the protruding pin in the adapter mount holds the iris activation function (yes, that's the technical term) to manually control the iris. Otherwise the aperture ring has no effect and the lens remains wide open. The two FD-A7II adapters I ordered worked flawlessly, requiring only a minimal amount of finesse to line up the pin and lever. The third, however, turned out to…

Do not recommend this product

I was delighted when I took it out of the box. It looked decent enough. I connected it to my Sony camera and everything went smoothly. Then I added a Canon lens and everything went fine. Everything was fine BEFORE I removed the lens. I couldn't turn it off. PANIC! The block was removed from the camera body normally - it was separated from the lens. I've tried everything - but there is no manufacturer support number (I wonder why). . .(Maybe it's manufacturing...?) Two hours later, after much…

Just what I needed

In the foreword I will say that I will be returning this item. I'm using a Sony A7M2 with an old Zeiss 135mm f3.5 lens. When I screwed the lens to the mount, I noticed that they had a small gap (less than a millimeter). I let this slide but found I had blurry images. Yes, I know it's an MF lens, but it looked great in preview. The images were still blurry. After some research and throwing away my A$$ I found myself with a shutter speed of 1/30 or 1/60. Everything is fine with stabilized lenses.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Vulgarity

This adapter is near perfect. I have purchased several other adapters from Fotasy and have been happy with them. The only problem I had was that I couldn't move the aperture ring on the lens when I screwed it all the way down. Mamiya/Sekor's aperture rings protrude slightly from the lens, allowing the adapter to be tight against the aperture ring when screwed onto the adapter. If the silver part of the adapter was a bit wider it would make contact with the inner ring of the Mamiya/Sekor lens…

Fotasy Exakta Adapter for Sony E-Mount needs repair

Fotasy Exakta Adapter for Sony E-Mount is rated with 3 stars. The good thing is that the sides of the Sony E-mount adapters fit well. The not so good stuff are two problems on Exakta's part. First, with two adapters, the end of the spring protruded through a hole in the latch and touched the back of the lens or the Exakta bayonet extension. So it didn't fit. Second, on all five adapters I tried, the flanges on the back of the lens mount collided with the flanges on the Fotasy adapter. So I used

When I bought this adapter, I didn't realize from the list that my expensive Alpha camera cannot meter or expose with this adapter because the FD lens will always be wide open. That's right, you can't change the aperture with the aperture ring either before or during the exposure. Lenses FD and FDn (new FD) are like that. If you don't believe me, try changing the aperture of your Canon lens when it's not attached to the camera body. There's a company called Metabones that sells a $99 adapter…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Minor things

I used this adapter on my Sony A7ii and bought 2 of them. The build quality is amazing, there are no gaps and the adapter fits perfectly on the A7 E's mount. One of the two fits perfectly while the other is very snug for the adapter which has a shutter button and allows lens swapping on the go. The other adapter was just perfect and I can't complain at all. Since I buy an adapter for each lens I use, it's much more convenient to have the lenses to hand, the quick release button doesn't matter…

Fotasy vs. Gobe Nikon to Sony Adapters: Which is Better?

I am a renowned professional specializing in technical and image reviews. If you're reading this review, you already know that old Nikon lenses are great. Are these adapters useful? Is Gobe worth paying 80% more than the nearly identical Fotasy? Check out my photo and read on: First, let me tell you that you won't sacrifice optical quality with either. If you're willing to just focus manually, that's great. I bought a converter for great macros from Nikon and it's better to focus manually on…

Good solid M42 adapter

You can't really spoil the M42 adapter and this one is no exception. Quite well done, no obvious problems. As an adapter it is excellent and I will have no problem buying it again. There is no light leak that I could identify. I didn't notice any reflections or other issues, although it would have been nice if the inside was lined with felt like I've seen on some other (non-M42) adapters. The only issue I have is how the metal insert is held onto the lens thread. There are three small set…
