Is Gobe worth paying 80% more than the nearly identical Fotasy? Check out my photo and read on: First, let me tell you that you won't sacrifice optical quality with either. If you're willing to just focus manually, that's great. I bought a converter for great macros from Nikon and it's better to focus manually on this type of lens anyway. Sony AV aperture mode works for exposure! Or just use manual exposure. They only focus manually. Now let's take a closer look at each converter: GOBE VS. PHOTOSY ADAPTER: The head goes to the Gobe from the two adapters. That's $13 more, so it doesn't matter in the long run. The build quality is the same. . . except for the silver tab that you press to remove the lens from the adapter. Fotasy works, but you have to force it. Gobeis slim and lightweight. Either way, just press to release the lens. Both Fotasy and Gobe attach well and firmly to the Sony camera body. Doesn't wobble or wobble like some adapters. I'm keeping a Gobe of the two, but I'm concerned about some issues with their packaging and "too clever" marketing. We care about the environment, but this is a lens adapter that costs hundreds to thousands of dollars. No instructions, Gobi?! The only documents attached are a proposal to save five trees. For real! The Gobe site is no better. Installing the adapter on the lens is intuitive. Without instructions, removing it can be confusing for some otherwise pretty smart people. Once you find the silver latch on the left, simply push down and carefully remove the adapter from the lenses. Easy when you know how. Also, it comes with a canvas waist bag for storing the adapter. But it's so unreasonable! This adapter fits directly into your camera's sensor. This type of bag can spill particles into your dear Sony! Therefore, never keep it in a bag without additional protection! I got around this by placing the gobe in a small plastic bag inside a canvas bag. The now secured adapter can then be stowed in the shoulder bag if desired. I STRONGLY recommend Gobe to reconsider this bad decision. RECOMMENDATION: Clench your teeth and spend the extra $13 on Gobe. All of these adapters are 100% pass-through and do not affect the quality of the lens. If you are on a tight budget, Fotasy will suit you too. Gobe or Fotasy adapters for Nikon and Sony: which is better? I am a renowned professional specializing in technical and image reviews.
