My old 250 gigabytes lost power (splash, off, on, off, on, surge, off - all in a few seconds) - I reformatted and waited so here it is Good for storage, albeit with a little less space. Those 200 gigabytes were an affordable replacement. Installation was easy but part was a pain. The hard drive does not come with any drivers - you will need to find the appropriate drivers for your motherboard's SATA chipset. It took about 20 minutes of internet searching. My Sony Vaio OEM drives didn't have drivers (just a clean install of the original system) and the Sony website didn't have any information or drivers. After figuring out it was an Intel chipset I went to the Intel website and found the drivers. The next problem (and it was a PC design problem) was that the hard drives were side mounted. The case does not close when using the supplied SATA cable. I had to order a right angle cable (see photos). These are issues with any SATA drive used as a system drive replacement with XP or earlier operating systems. Newer versions of XP (Late 2006) or newer OS should include drivers - I think. If your drives are side mounted (cables face the side, not the back of the device), be prepared and order the correct cable.
