Review on Android Rotated Touchscreen Universal Support by Victor Kakaruk

Good but looks like an Android DIY project

I've had this unit for about seven months. I installed the radio in a 2008 Honda Pilot SE. It was very easy to install with the Honda wiring harness. The radio body has standard screw holes that are aligned for a secure installation. I like the power rotation option. It's fun and cool. I haven't found any practical use other than changing the look and feel. This is funny. In general, I like the radio, but many of the features offered as part of the Android operating system are poorly integrated for audio control. That's a bit disappointing. Radio and GPS are fine. Good: big screen, cool button screen rotation, steering wheel controls, installation was easy thanks to purchase of Honda Pilot wiring harness kit, brackets and screws matched OEM mounting points perfectly, supports Google Assistant. Bad: the biggest problem for me is the tone control/volume. It does not allow separate controls for each application. Thus, the lowest level of the radio is loud and does not allow fine adjustment of the volume. It basically goes from pretty loud to off. Other apps like Google Assistant or Waze are either too loud or whisper quiet. If you turn it up loud, the radio gets too loud. Another problem is that GPS apps like Google Map and Waze can't finish the audio directions. They only cut off the last few seconds. For example, Waze tries to say "move it to the left" but it turns off and just says "move it to the left". This is very difficult to understand unless you are looking at the screen and following the map. Another issue is that sometimes the Google Assistant stops listening and I have to restart the radio. There is no easy way to restart it. It has a pain relief hole so I don't use it. I use a soft reset from one of the steering settings, which restarts the radio. This option requires a factory password to allow the radio to reboot. By the way, the password or PIN code is 126.
