There seem to be 2 types of Nyko charging stations. It is better. This one doesn't have an indicator light on the outside, but when you put batteries in, the lights come on. The other only has a green/red/off light system and is an older product. The batteries are universal and will work with the new charging station. This one is better because the indicator lights have 3 levels to show you the battery level, but it always seems to start with the lowest battery level. It also has a USB port on the front to charge something else. Batteries seem to hold a charge long enough for most people. However, keep in mind that you have to dock and undock the controllers on the dock, so you can't play while charging like you can with the Microsoft Kit. I believe these batteries will also charge with the Microsoft Play N charging cable, but I haven't tried it yet. You can plug the cable into the USB port on the front of the device and continue playing. If Nyko included a cable for charging controllers with this item, it would be perfect for intensive use, ie those who play all day, most people don't, but there is a small fraction of people who do . I think Nyko makes a better product than Microsoft, although these batteries don't seem to fail like Microsoft. Everyone knows how much the Xbox 360 controllers drain the battery and this solves this problem perfectly.
