In general, this is a very beautiful and functional French Press. It works well and is a little easier to clean than other French presses I've had. Although there is one significant drawback. The lid is made of bamboo, which is very permeable to water and has not been processed. Broke after a week of use. I have never exposed the lid to water except during normal cleaning and drying. I never soaked it. Note that there is a plastic barrier between the lid and the coffee. I don't know how it got so wet it ripped but I never dropped it so that's all I think happened. I don't mind paying for a design as long as it's high quality and works well, but it costs three times what I might pay for a stainless steel press that would be nearly indestructible. I wouldn't buy it again
