Review on DJI Ronin S Part Switch Handle by Chris Wheeler

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Disappointing: Accessory

I bought this grip for my Ronin-S and after photographing a wedding decided to return it. Pros: 1. I liked the modularity and the ability to add additional accessories to the "wings". Cons: 1. The rubber on the handles is worse than another product I've recently bought2. The arms themselves screw into the piece that attaches them to the wings and can be unscrewed if you put all of the gimbal's weight on one hand to adjust focus or zoom, for example. This can be jittery and cause the entire rig to shift in your hand.3. I don't like wings. Personally, I kept the grips as close to the body of the gimbal as possible so I could still use the record button, and protruding fenders annoyed me. All the points listed above are actually more of a personal preference. The latter is a deal breaker. As others reported, the glue holding the rubber in the clamp — the part that attaches the grip assembly just below the swing motor — started to move after the first shot. I can imagine that the pens will become unusable even after a short period of continuous use. I have since purchased a popular rig from a third party accessory that includes 2 NATO grips and a clamp and I can say I love it. much better. The handles in particular feel MUCH nicer.
