bought this specifically for Linux

I use Linux exclusively and knowing that Linux has had very good support for Realtek-based devices for a long time, I decided to give it a try to attempt . Spring. At first it was disappointing to say the least. I almost never got it to work. I'm using Arch Linux and you can find almost anything in their repositories so I ignored all the manuals and installed it straight away from the AUR. After figuring out that I had to install the kernel headers to make it work, I successfully installed it. But it still didn't work. I've tried several times and spent quite a bit of time searching the forums for answers. Eventually I gave up and went to my wife's computer with Windows 10. It's like another nightmare. By the way, I have many years of professional PC repair experience and have A++ certifications and 3 Linux certifications. I definitely have the right to call it a failure. So I requested a refund. I was obsessed with that moment, so I tried again, removing the old drivers and installing others. phew! It worked great and was up and running for hours. So I canceled the return as I just wanted it to work. It is connected to my 5G network at 867 Mbps. I've never gotten it to work on Windows, but I don't care. I would give more stars if it was easier to install. Bottom line: if you know what you're doing and are willing to put some time into it, then this is a great map. If you're not using Arch or its derivatives, you'll have to study the forum posts and recompile the drivers from scratch. I don't use it for pen testing, so I can't comment on that. I hope this helps someone else.

Pros
  • USB network adapter
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Like a tiny pair of old fashioned "rabbit ears" on old television sets, really works though
