I first used it on the corner of the windshield. It wasn't sticky the first time, but I got my truck out of the sun a bit and the suction worked and was very strong. I no longer had problems with not sticking to the windshield. I haven't used the holder on the dash, but I think if it sucks on the windshield that well, sticking to the dash shouldn't be a problem. Now I attached mine to the vent (see picture). Again no problems, the phone holds up normally. I would recommend it.
