Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ High-Accuracy Air Pollution Formaldehyde Detector with Temperature Monitoring by Josh Chenier

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Despite the shortcomings, I give it 5 stars!

When I first looked at the box this unit came in I was amazed at the quality of the packaging and the unit itself. I have been using this unit for a few days and am quite impressed with the accuracy and sensitivity of the device. An absolute must for allergy sufferers or when family members become ill for no apparent reason. I strongly recommend that you follow the instructions, especially when unpacking the device for the first time. As recommended, leave the device outdoors for at least 30 to 60 minutes before turning it on to allow all sensors to air out. Some sensors contain internal heating elements that are necessary for their operation. For best results, allow everything to air out before turning on the device. After starting the device, I used it to measure different areas. I took it to work to measure air quality in one of the data center labs and had HCHO 0.000, TVOC 0.001 and PM 2.5000. The device provides pretty much real-time stats because when I was working in the lab, every time I passed the device the reading changed only slightly (e.g. TVOC increased 0.001 to 0.005, PM2.5 changed from 000 to 002, etc.). After a few moments, all the numbers went back to zero. This device is so sensitive that readings were displayed in real time as I walked through the house. As I walked out into the corridor, the readings dropped pretty low. The reason is that we have a HEPA air filter in the hallway next to the litter box. This device is so sensitive that it can tell the difference as I drive down I-280 and I-101 with the windows down. Where I live, I-280 is entirely tree lined and I-101 is mostly industrial. Readings are significantly lower when driving on I-280. See? Trees are very useful for keeping the air clean! This device is so sensitive it gets hilarious. Because feces release VOCs due to sulfur and many other chemicals your body uses for digestion, the device registers a higher VOC value. Smelly poop, higher TVOC! Do you or someone else smoke? Turn on this device while smoking and see how much smoking affects air quality. Passive smoking is no joke! How do I live in California? Take this device (rechargeable and portable, very handy!) with you when you go outside to check the air quality due to the state's many wildfires. While this device tells you your air quality index (or AQI), there's not much it can do other than tell you. Very helpful so you can take extra steps to protect yourself (especially if you have asthma like me). Since this device measures individual AQI values in real time, use this device to test the effectiveness of your air purifier! Bought a new car? Take measurements in your new car with this device. That new car smell, believe it or not, is formaldehyde emissions caused by the curing of the glue and resin. Bought new furniture? Use this device to check the HCHO levels that new furniture may emit. Most furniture is made of MDF or chipboard. Particleboard is pieces of wood held together with chemicals and glues that release formaldehyde. What I think could make this product cooler: * The ability to save histograms when starting measurements. You must be on the chart page and keep it there to get historical charts. If you exit and return to the page, you will no longer be able to view past measurements. * Ability for the device to save calibration data when power is turned off. If you calibrate and zero the device, the reading may vary slightly the next time you turn on the device. * Ability to export results over time. * Ability to change the color scheme of the user interface. good understanding of current environmental conditions. You cannot view past readings. I strongly recommend buying this product!
