the so-called "non-slip " rubber was slippery than ice

This "non-slip" rubber outer mat didn't suit me at all. I installed it on a slightly inclined, varnished wooden ramp. The ramp itself is fine even when wet. It only becomes dangerous after a snowfall. Immediately after laying the mat, I went down the ramp in absolutely dry conditions, slipped and fell?! When I got up I found that even in completely dry conditions the grip between my shoes and the mat was less than on bare ice. I have a hard time comparing my experience to some of the other reviews. Maybe there is some variability in the properties of rubber?
