I have had several LG, Idylis and Whynter portable air conditioners. As the summer heat approached, I decided it was time to replace my broken LG portable air conditioner. After reading all the positive reviews about other models of Honeywell portable air conditioners, I decided to give them a try. From that moment on, my experience with Honeywell turned into a nightmare. The device arrived within 2 days thanks to Amazon Prime and FedEx. Unboxing was fairly easy, only requiring cutting 2 straps and removing the top of the box. The only protection for a mobile air conditioner are the foam inserts at the top and bottom. After inspecting the unit I noticed that 2 pins on the plug were badly bent and the ground pin was missing. I called Amazon customer service about this issue and they were fantastic. The replacement was sent the same day. The next day, UPS delivered a replacement and picked up the damaged air conditioner. This device arrived with a damaged outer box. A strap was missing and there were multiple holes throughout the box. After unpacking, I noticed that the bezel in the lower right corner has jumped out. This is a removable panel with a cheap line filter. After removing the panel, I saw severe damage to the evaporator coil fins. This damage cannot have occurred during transport as all internal parts do not move at all. I called Amazon again and they agreed to send another replacement. UPS again delivered a replacement and picked up the damaged air conditioner. This time the box was almost undamaged. HOORAY! After unpacking, I noticed that no window adapters or screen filters were installed. Out of curiosity I removed the lower right panel and this unit also had the fins on the evaporator coils broken. At this point I was very upset because it is not easy to repackage this portable air conditioner. I called Honeywell about this issue and they said they don't make these portable air conditioners. I was told to call JMATEK/Airtek. They were very friendly and asked for photos of the damage. I sent photos as requested and received a "reply" within 4 hours asking me to take photos of the installation of the unit including the exhaust hose and where it goes among other things. WHICH TYPE?!?! It was unrelated to my original email. I called Amazon again, but this time asked to speak to an executive. I explained the situation and it was almost like she didn't care. I have told the manager that I can provide photos of the damage if needed. Her answer was no, and she giggled. She agreed to send another replacement. I asked if they could ship it as fragile this time and she said no but she will escalate delivery questions to the appropriate department. UPS delivered the final replacement and picked up the third damaged air conditioner. This box was undamaged but came with one piece of tape instead of two. The straps are connected to the bottom and top of the box. This time everything was there…. Remote control, window adapter, drain hose and drain hose. This time the window adapter was torn. I removed the lower right panel for what seemed like the millionth time just to check the innards... I'm guessing the fins on the evaporator coils were smashed here too. I called JMATEK back and explained that 3 units had the same rib damage. This information was passed on to the manager there. I was told that this is not normal and the fins should not be damaged at all. I figured at this point I should at least try using the AC and see what happens. The air conditioner is designed to cool a bedroom of approximately 200 square meters. ft. Installation was fairly easy and only took a few minutes. This was probably the best window kit (minus the damage) of any portable air conditioner I've owned. Some companies have massive window sets that look awful from the outside, but this one is sleek and understated. It took about 1 hour to drop the temperature from 80 degrees to 72 degrees. I was very surprised at how quiet this portable air conditioner is compared to others I've had. This is a huge plus considering how noisy some of them can be. After 3 hours of work, he could not lower the temperature below 70 degrees. In terms of performance, it doesn't seem to be very strong. The next evening when I wanted to turn on the air conditioning, the compressor started making a strange noise after 5 minutes of operation. Compressor failed in less than 4 hours of general use. This portable air conditioner clearly has quality control issues when there is the same damage on 3 air conditioners and the plug on another one was damaged. I was very disappointed as Honeywell is a great brand. I called Amazon back and spoke to another executive who said it would be best if I returned the air conditioner for a refund while they investigate what was going on. I highly recommend checking that there is no internal damage, especially to the fins, when purchasing this portable air conditioner. This can be checked through the small removable grille/panel on the bottom right. Pros - Aesthetically pleasing - Great window set - Quiet operation - Friendly customer service from JMATEK Cons - Quality control issues - Shipping issues
