I have autism and this is my first weighted blanket. I received a 15 lb blanket that measures 48" x 72". The duvet is surprisingly thin/unobtrusive and softer than I expected. You can feel the tiny glass beads inside if you squeeze hard enough, but mostly you'll feel the soft poly filling. The chambers are small and quilted to prevent balls from slipping and distribute weight evenly. So, I'm a small person and I decided to fold this in half so it's 24 x 72 inches and lay it on top of me. And then I didn't want any weight on my ankles and feet (I have EMF too) so I folded it down so my legs were covered from knee to ankle with four layers of blanket. And then I had an extra blanket next to my face, so I folded the rest so there were four layers of blanket on my chest. And strangely, it didn't feel like too much weight. I kind of wanted more. It was nice, although technically it was the equivalent of a much heavier duvet than was ever recommended for my size. I wasn't really expecting a "cooling" effect because none of the other "cooling" products ever seemed to cool, but it actually WAS cooling. I don't know what dark magic makes this possible, but it does what it says on the tin. I, too, was wrapped in a thick cotton blanket under a weighted blanket and was not hot. Unfortunately it didn't help me sleep, but I wasn't too surprised since even strong sedatives don't help me sleep. But it was really good and it was comforting. Unfortunately, carrying so much weight (much more than I expected) gave me back pain around the existing problem area of the spine. So you have to pay attention to that. This requires a duvet cover because while it's technically washable, the manufacturer warns against it because it could damage your washing machine. No thank you. I'll definitely take a duvet. The duvet has small loops on the edges to tie the duvet cover. Plus it comes in a really great reusable zipped storage bag. Surprisingly well made for a cheap/free storage bag. And the duvet folds/shrinks less than expected, so it's not that bad to store.
