I have been wearing hearing aids for a long time and wanted to try this cheaper alternative to keep as back up. This is hearing amplifier so I would not compare it with hearing aids. I have hearing loss in both ears but I wear hearing aids only in left ear.This is behind the ear design and uses battery to run unlike the chargeable versions. Both chargeable and battery options have their advantages and disadvantages. Chargeable hearing aids are cost effective as you don't spend anything on batteries while the ones with batteries will not need recharging everyday. This device is designed to sit behind the ears and is small and not easily visible. There is only volume button that controls volume as well as helps switching between different modes but its difficult to get this feature right.Sound quality is better than other hearing amplifiers I have used. This does not totally block background noise but it does lowers that down to large extent. If your hearing loss is only for specific frequency then these amplifiers might not help as they will amplify all sounds irrespective of frequency. For mild and moderate hearing loss, this device is very helpful.
