Edit original. The straps work very well. My first check before adjusting was to make the boat ride as high on my hip as possible (too high and it starts pulling the strap over my shoulder). With the chunky shape of a kayak you still can't walk freely, but you can move around much better on the ground than without a harness. I recommend. The original tape works very well. My Hurricane light kayak doesn't hang so I can walk freely but it is .way. better than no belt - much better. I'm not sure how they could redesign this strap to give me more freedom of movement when walking with a boot, but it's just not the cake I was hoping for. It's still the awkward shuffling of the boat that hits my leg. It frees my hands almost completely, and that's definitely useful. It's light enough that I can store it in my kayak and not worry about adding extra weight even when it's wet because it's shedding water. However, this belt is much better. than without a strap.
