The tool itself appears to be well made and has adjustable angle pins to connect to the old timing belt tensioner on many VW/Audi engines. BUT. Unfortunately this doesn't work on my 2001 VW with ABA engine, which has a newer hydraulic piston idler pulley. Look at your reel: if it's attached to the butt then it's the wrong tool. I have the right tool, but I've had to settle for a vise holding the bolt to get it (poorly) into the adjustment hole/groove.
