I needed larger herb containers than I normally use for dried leaves and whole herbs for cooking and brewing tea. The 8 oz size fits perfectly and I love the wide neck which makes it much easier to dip the scoop into the jar. The borosilicate glasses I received are absolutely flawless. I think I was expecting a few small flaws so I was very pleasantly surprised. The rubber rings also provide a seal - each has 2 small holes to allow air to be squeezed out when the lid is pressed. While they're not exactly vacuum packed, they should keep my herbs and spices fresher longer and arguably work better than a screw top lid. I got an extra rubber ring which was nice too. Bamboo lids had no rough or jagged edges and were very smooth. The reusable labels are very good and I liked the size of the marker tip. I use the larger tip size for my kombucha jars so I think the smaller size is ideal. The lace is too thin and in my experience you can't read the label at a glance. While I like the characteristics of the bamboo the lids are made of, I prefer the darker wood. The tops of these bamboo lids themselves have been treated with a thin layer of sealant (and this is normal - the top does not come into contact with food, and the coating prevents the bamboo from drying out for long periods of time in the event of possible repeated washing). . and eliminates the need for mineral or bamboo rehydration oil). I lightly sanded the coating with fine sandpaper and wrapped a small block of wood. I scrubbed some of the stain hard and blotted it with a cloth to give it a stained appearance and let it dry overnight. I'll mention this in case anyone else wants to change/adjust the caps. If you are using paint instead of stain you can just paint over the top coat as it is very light. I removed the rubber seals and washed them along with the glasses. It was easy to put the seals back on. They were well packed in matching foam supports so they couldn't break. I am very pleased with the quality of these jars and the small details that add to their value and I think they have many uses other than storing herbs and spices. I recommend them!
