The package came in a large cardboard box, since this counter is smaller than a pack of cigarettes. Installation is easy as all you have to do is wrap a wire around the spark plug wire and then set the gauge to count sparks depending on the application. I bought mine for my lawn mower so all I needed was velcro and I was done. One thing I would like to mention is that the default display shows the RPM of the engine while it is running and the number of hours that have elapsed with the engine off. You can change the settings to only show the hours of use by following the easy-to-understand instructions. You can also set the service intervals that appear on the gauge when the engine is not running. Overall it does what it's designed to do, it's inexpensive, you can reset the run hours and it's easy to install. I recommend this product for those looking for something similar. ****Update**** This counter only lasted one summer. It is impossible to replace the batteries without destroying them. I would recommend looking for something with a removable battery. Still easy to install and use, but only if you intend to use it for a season. I would not recommend this product.
