I really wanted to like this but ran into too many problems. I used to use one of their iPod shuffles, which worked well for swimming, which is my main use. But I wanted more than a playlist and maybe audio books. Firstly, don't buy the 8GB version! Once you have Amazon Music on board, you'll almost run out of storage space. I had three playlists and that was it. At the same time, after contacting them, they recommended a return. Your customer care has always been exceptional. Sound - The sound buttons didn't work on either device I tried. I always had to go into the menu and change the volume in software instead of using external buttons. Also, the headphones didn't fit me that well. Oddly, the Shuffle earbuds worked great for my swim. Performance - This device burns energy like no other. Don't forget to turn off Wi-Fi - it helps, but be prepared to charge it after each use. Customization is not easy, but still doable. Once it's set up you're good to go, so at least it's not a long-term problem. Like I said, I really wanted this to work, but you might as well wait for the next gen.
