This product gave me confidence but you should definitely try it first. I live in an apartment and the building doesn't allow chains on the door which gave me extra confidence in my old apartment so I decided to buy this door alarm. There are many housekeepers with keys so I was always a bit concerned. I definitely recommend you check it out at your door first! When I tried it for the first time, I put it under the door and my husband opened the door. The doorstop just slid across the floor then I tried the doormat and it just slid across the doormat, it worked but it was more open than I would have liked. I fixed this by putting a non-stick holder on the bottom so it now doesn't move and actually blocks the door.
