I originally bought this as a 'paint box' for outdoor oil painting. Before I could use it for this purpose, I was delayed due to the weather and other reasons. I decided to use it to store my watercolor supplies in my studio. I'm perfect for all my watercolor tubes, brushes, masking liquid, pencils, tape, pretty much anything but watercolor paper, palettes and easels. So when I finally got back to outdoor oil painting, I decided to buy another one. Both are great! Beautiful, well designed, beautifully designed. The second box fit nicely in my very large outdoor easel backpack. It fits almost everything what I carry in the field: 200ml oil paint tubes, spatulas, media and terpene bottles, rulers, belt finders, etc. And it requires a lot of rough handling. It gets thrown in my backpack and bounced hard, thrown on grass, rocks and muddy ground, and it holds up very well. I'd be happy if it lasted a few months, but so far it's been over a year.
