In a past life I was a professional drywall contractor. I had access to quality tools. The grinder we used was a 9" Porter Cable All-in-One vacuum grinder. Since I no longer have that job, I no longer have access to the tools either. That's why I ordered the WEN unit. What caught my eye is that WEN has a lighter construction. This has its pros and cons. It's obviously easier to handle (although ceiling sanding is never easy), but the longevity of the tool had to be sacrificed. The rod (handle) is strong, but the plastic around the grinding wheel that forms the vacuum chamber was light plastic.Soon this piece cracked (see picture). However, this may not affect operation.Secondly, the grinding head itself seems to be on a high quality professional professional vacuum cleaner with appropriate filters to clog quite often. I could never understand why that was, but when I saw how much dust there was falling off the grinding head, I thought it was time to stop, read and pat oven until the vacuum holes are clear. (Quick note: I'm not sure the size of the hose. It didn't fit anything I had. I had to attach the supplied hose to the vacuum cleaner hose at the shop to make the connection. It worked fine.) Third, the motor location . Mounting the motor directly on the grinding head has its advantages and disadvantages. The lack of a flexible drive is an advantage when replacing rotating parts. The downside of this is that the motor will pick up dust and ruin the motor brushes (which is why they send an extra kit). Another thing that mounting the motor upside down does is change the balance. Thanks to the handle position and the design, the device is quite easy to handle, although it is still heavy. With that extra weight at the end, I had trouble chatting. I could never figure out if it was my technique or if it was bad design. However, this was easily corrected by pulling a finger from the hand that pressed a nearby button to fix the hopping motor. Fourth, grinding efficiency. Speed control is excellent and there is an excess amount of power. This grinder turns any surface into a smooth one. This is a good trait for tapered (horizontal) joints, but when it comes to butt welds (vertical) and corners (which will never be entirely flat but instead need to blend into the wall), the hardness of the sanding head came into play. from right around the corner. This means that only the outside edges of the corner are sanded. If you're not careful, you can also sand down to the seam tape on a butt joint before contouring the edges. This forced me to hand sand the corners and butt joints, but only a little. Bottom line: you get what you pay for. This device is very practical, powerful, compact and convenient. Result. Is working. However, it doesn't perform as well as the more expensive device (duh). This is an ideal tool for those who only do their work at home (and sometimes for the family). It's not so expensive that you'll feel bad if you don't use it constantly, but it's high quality enough to make the job a lot easier than doing it by hand when you need it. Hope that helps.
