I bought a Pyle PLTTB3U turntable with preamp. It's lighter than I thought, all plastic, and while the design is attractive, I'll probably be returning this player because it doesn't play in stereo! I tried using the USB software and Audacity, of course the program loaded, but there is no icon on my desktop and nothing happens with the connected USB. It's like my computer doesn't know the program is there, and nothing tells the program that a player is connected to it. Compared to other entry-level TTs, it felt feature-packed and great value. The pitch control is good, but doesn't work well and you have to constantly readjust something. For 33 it's decent, for 45 it's not at all. The shell is made of plastic and wobbles a lot. That worries me. At least I expected the bowl to be even and not wobble. Didn't really notice until I put on a friend's old record, which was slightly warped, which made it even more noticeable. I connected it to Micca PB42X bookshelf speakers. However, the speakers work fine (stereo) when I plug my Android phone into the 3.5mm jack. When I connect the cinch cable from the TT to the active speaker, only sound comes out of the right speaker and a faint hum comes from the left speaker. The polarity of a standard speaker wire connecting two speakers is correct and undamaged. My setup is online, not phono. The guide isn't very helpful and I've searched for solutions online but haven't found anything. I ordered a dual RCA to 3.5mm adapter to see if I could get sound out of both speakers (since the speakers play music well on my phone), even if it's only on one channel. I'm either missing something or I think the white RCA is bad - if I plug the red RCA lead into either the red or white RCA inputs, the left or right speaker will work. The white RCA cable does not work on either input. After writing this I thought it sounded obvious that the white RCA cable must be the culprit, but I'm not sure. Very disappointed with this purchase. I'm a total TT newbie but do a lot of homework before buying. I'll probably go with AudioTechnica anyway. The last thing you have to do is try this adapter to connect both RCA outputs (male) to the 3.5 input of your speakers. If that doesn't work, bye, Pyle. If anyone can point me to what I'm doing wrong please comment and maybe I can salvage this purchase and update my current product review. Update: cartridge removed, cartridge reinserted. Now I get full stereo on both channels. I blame the manual and lack of troubleshooting tips. I'm very glad I don't have to send this back and start over. I'll probably need an external amplifier and then some stronger passive speakers, but so far I'm happy.
