The telescopic rod nut does not seem tight enough to prevent the mirror from rotating. I just installed it a few days ago and so far everything has been fine on flat water. I may have to use some redneck ingenuity to secure the telescoping piece if it becomes a problem. Otherwise a great device. I attached mine to the top side rail of the bimini so it sticks out horizontally over the console right where the transom should be. This is a nice large wide angle mirror perfect for observing nodules and other boats approaching from behind. Update: A few drops of CA between the plastic threaded fitting and the large stem secured it so the nut is now tight. enough to fix the mirror much better. Benington 2007.
