The only downside so far is that you need to keep the remote close by at all times. But that will be the case with every dog collar. I love that this collar has 2 first instance buttons, a beep and a vibration. So far both have stopped my dog and I haven't had to use the shock button. I also LOVE that the collar is a snap buckle and not one that requires you to put a pin in the right hole to get it to fit properly. Every morning I quickly find myself on my puppy. I also really like the remote control. It's simple, but tricky enough to tell you exactly what shock level it's set to. It is comfortable to hold in hand, it is also pleasant to look at. I like that the pins on the collar are not too long as this can be uncomfortable for the dog. Overall I am very happy with this collar!
