Actually waterproof and works very well in combination with a balaclava.
Simply cycling with this bag is not suitable for Seattle, but in combination with a helmet pad I like to ride very much! So far the case has remained waterproof after a few months of use, so I can say it was a good buy. I also have a helmet light that fits underneath and is still pretty bright through the cap. I really recommend buying one of these to add a rainwear collection to your bike. The bus driver complimented me on how conspicuous I was, but remember, a driver's stupidity knows no bounds. and be careful out there!
