This is our fourth digital camera in the last 10 years or so. This is by far the best camera and best value of any device to date. I was totally impressed with our Nikon and am still happy with the quality of the photos it takes. Unfortunately, the main problem with Nikon is me, not the camera, and it's only going to get worse over time. This is a terrible "shudder". Most new cameras on the market have some form of anti-jitter in one of four ways. Some cameras compensate for this by matching camera movement to the image chip, others with a lens element, and most others by increasing the ISO or shutter speed (known as digital stabilization). The Olympus SP-565 can stabilize using three of the four methods (no lens compensation) but retains fully automatic capabilities for other aspects. See, this camera has too many features to detail here. This is a relatively compact camera with an incredible amount of options. If you want to aim and shoot, leave it on Auto. If you want to manipulate the image, there is an amazing range of possibilities. It even has a "My Camera" feature that allows you to set up the camera the way you want it (four different configurations, in fact) and save it for quick selection when conditions call for it. Added - A year has passed and I'm still fine. impressed. The photos I took don't suffer from my severe shaking, which is getting worse and worse.
