This article is absolutely amazing. I saw all the bad reviews about the app but personally I had absolutely no problems with it. You really do get what you pay for with this DVR. The clarity is stunning, and the app lets you control many aspects of the dash cam (including muting it, which was a huge relief). I could talk about this all day, but you don't want to read a book, do you? Overall 10/10. The only thing I would like to change is how high the camera records. I don't need half a memory card full of clouds. Save storage space for cars and license plates. About 9 hours of continuous shooting can be recorded on a 256 GB memory card. After two hit-and-runs that ended with the police shrugging and people fumbling with my car at night, I've stopped playing games. I have a feeling this camera will pay for itself. *NOTE*: If your microsd card needs to be formatted, manually press and hold the REC button for 4 or 5 seconds. It will be formatted and recording will start. If you accidentally turned the rear camera upside down, you can flip the video in the app's settings. Don't try to remove the camera to flip it over and rip off the tint like I did. That mistake alone will cost me more than this DVR. Update 7/27/21: The rear camera keeps connecting/disconnecting which keeps the system restarting whether I'm driving or parked. This is absolutely unacceptable for a $500 DVR. If support can't fix this issue I'll go back and update to blackvue. There will be an update. Update 8/24/21: Went back and forth with support and sent back the cable from rear camera and front camera to rear camera. At first they just sent me a new rear camera. A week later I also received the cable. I plug it in and the rear camera does absolutely nothing. I switch it back to dual channel recording and it reformats the SD card but immediately jumps back just like the rear camera wasn't connected. My return window closed 4 days ago thanks to weeks of support and waiting for a replacement. I am extremely dissatisfied with this whole situation and an absolute waste of time. Not to mention I ripped my fairing multiple times to remove and install the cable. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY. Final edit, I swear! Music distortion is another disadvantage of this DVR. If you have music at an average level the mic just distorts and that's all you get. I don't mind it much, but it's a little annoying. 9-2-21: I lied. Another edit. The tow truck driver rolled in front of me on the freeway and almost caused a collision. I come home and try to take some shots, but you know what? He hasn't recorded a single video in a week, even though the REC and GPS lights were on. Not only the rear camera doesn't work, but also the front one! Words cannot describe how frustrating this whole situation was. Luckily Amazon support was very kind and understanding and allowed me to return it even though it was outside the return window. Initially I really liked this thing with a crystal clear picture and an easy to use app, but it certainly didn't last long. If you rate this product, I really hope you have a better experience than me.
