For a while I thought the filters weren't working because my water still tasted awful. But then I realized that I was going too fast on the water. So if you're still getting a bad taste and weird smell from the tap instead of filtered water, pour the water slower and it will come out nice and filtered. I could still get 3 months after my first filter that came with the unit but I figured it was done. Turns out I was just picking up the water too quickly and the pressure was probably pushing the bad stuff through.
