I won't pretend to know the technical aspects of this system but I can tell you it's a great system for us. Streams are crystal clear, no lags. Motion detection is quite sensitive. We live in a very rural area and this is our first (hopefully last) security system. It makes me feel safer. In one shot, the guy you see is at least 100 feet from the camera. But I can zoom in and see it easily. See how clearly you can see the boat's wheels in the upper left corner of this image! And how crystal clear the picture of the pool is. I will NEVER leave a child alone in the pool and with this system I will be notified if there is movement nearby. Night vision is just as sharp and clear, but in black and white. While I'm at work, I watch a live feed on my phone in the corner of my desk. When motion is detected I get an email, I can look at my phone and watch the live feed. Because we live outside of the city, we are often bothered by bugs, wasps, chickens, birds, etc. However, the sense of security outweighs minor issues like false alarms. Our house was robbed while it was being built. It wasn't so much the items stolen, but the sense of violence that left a negative lasting impression on us.
