I had a loom decades ago and recently decided to replace the oven mitts I was making back then. (Yes they are that good and last so long!) I got out my old loom and loops. I forgot how many loops need to be cast on because they were tiny or huge, unfinished loops or gaps. It seemed wasteful but I ordered a new set. Wow. Everything else, by that I mean ALL loops of the right size. The hook is excellent, the hook for finishing is included. And the pins on the loom are bent outwards a bit, which helps the loops to hold up a lot. I have already made two pot holders as gifts and will be making more. The set itself makes a good gift for the right child (or adult - I'm a grandmother). Includes optional Harrisville hinge package.
